1. Insert WordArt
WordArt is a special text feature in Microsoft Word that allows you to create decorative and attractive text. It can be used for headings, titles, posters, invitations and certificates.
How to Insert WordArt
- Open Microsoft Word.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Go to the Text group.
- Click WordArt.
- Select a WordArt style.
- Type the required text.
2. Format Contextual Tab
When a WordArt object is selected, a special contextual tab called Shape Format or Format appears, depending on the version of Microsoft Word.
This tab provides tools for changing the appearance, size, position and effects of WordArt.

3. Editing WordArt Text
WordArt text can be changed at any time. You can edit the words, font, font size, alignment and other formatting properties.
- Select the WordArt object.
- Click inside the text.
- Select the existing text.
- Type the new text.
- Apply the required formatting.
4. Change WordArt Style
WordArt styles are ready-made combinations of colours, outlines and effects. They help create attractive text quickly.
- Select the WordArt.
- Open the Format / Shape Format tab.
- Locate the WordArt Styles group.
- Choose a suitable style.
5. Change Fill Colour and Border Style
Text Fill
Text Fill changes the colour inside the WordArt letters.
- Select the WordArt.
- Open the Format tab.
- Click Text Fill.
- Select the desired colour.
Text Outline
Text Outline changes the colour and appearance of the border around the letters.
- Click Text Outline.
- Select an outline colour.
- Use Weight to change thickness.
- Use Dashes to select a border style.
6. 3-D Effects
3-D effects make WordArt appear more attractive and give the text a three-dimensional appearance.
Common effects include:
- Shadow
- Reflection
- Glow
- Bevel
- 3-D Rotation
7. Align WordArt
Alignment determines the position of the WordArt on the page.
Common alignment options are:
- Align Left
- Align Center
- Align Right
- Align Top
- Align Middle
- Align Bottom
- Select the WordArt object.
- Go to the Format tab.
- Open the Arrange group.
- Select Align.
- Choose the required alignment option.
8. Practical Exercises
Exercise – 4
- Open Microsoft Word and create a new document.
- Insert WordArt with the heading STUDENT MARKS MEMO.
- Apply a suitable WordArt style.

9. Insert Pictures, Clip Art, Shapes and Charts
Microsoft Word provides illustration tools for adding visual elements to a document.
These options are available through:

10. Insert Mathematical Symbols and Equations

- Click Equation.
- Select an existing equation or create your own.

11. Symbol Fonts in Windows
Windows provides fonts that contain special symbols and mathematical characters. One commonly known symbol font is Symbol.
These fonts can be used when special characters are required in documents.
