Remove Duplicates

The Remove Duplicates feature in Excel allows you to find and delete duplicate entries from a data range or entire table. This is especially helpful for large data sets where duplicates may disrupt analysis, reporting, or data integrity.

 

Where is this option?

Data Tab->Data Tools–>Remove Duplicates

When to use this option:

  • Customer Lists: Clean up duplicate customer records to avoid double-counting.
  • Inventory Lists: Remove duplicate entries of products in inventory.
  • Order Data: Avoid repeated entries in order or transaction data for more accurate reporting.

Example:

Procedure:

  • Select the data from which duplicates to be removed
  • Data Tab–>Data Tools–>Remove Duplicates

Remove Duplicates dialog box appears

Select one or more or all columns and click OK
