Paste Special

Introduction:

Paste Special is a feature in Excel that allows users to paste specific elements of copied data, such as values, formats, formulas, or comments.

How to Use Paste Special:

  1. Copy the data (Ctrl + C).
  2. Right-click on the destination cell.
  3. Click “Paste Special” or press Ctrl + Alt + V.
  4. Choose the required option (Values, Formats, Formulas, etc.).

Examples:

  • Paste Values: Copies only the values, not formulas.
  • Paste Formats: Copies the formatting (like colors, font style) without the actual values.
  • Paste Transpose: Converts rows into columns and vice versa.

Practice Questions:

  1. Copy a formula from one cell and paste only its value in another cell.
  2. Copy a table and paste only its formatting in a different range.
  3. Convert a row of data into a column using Paste Special.
